The 4-year legal battle between the record industry and File Sharing site LimeWire has finally come to an end. The website has been ordered to stop supplying its software and block all unauthorised files to stop them from being shared.
This will put the end to the worlds biggest file sharing service, with over 50 million monthly users and apparently costing the record industry around $500 million a month. With software such as BitTorrent and other means of file sharing, this definitely won't be the end of illegal downloading, but we think this is clearly going to make a difference to the record industry.
Obviously we think people should enjoy legal music, and if musicians didn't get money from what they do then we probably wouldn't have some of the biggest decent bands around! It's becoming a lot more common for bands to give away their music and ask for donations, which we think is a brilliant way forward, and everyones happy, so high five to this idea!
