Very first Crash Doubt Festival, Lincoln, Review & Photos

Crash Doubt Festival took place on 14th & 15th May in Lincoln, not known for putting on many decent music events, this one pretty much went went down like a corker. You can read more background info on the festival in a previous article here. Were were fortunate enough to get to the festival, and take some snaps for you lovely lot.

The first ever Crash Doubt was held at The Showroom, Lincoln, a pretty odd venue to hold a festival in, but nice open areas, with bands spread over 3 rooms, with huge glass windows and metal roofing, it didn't do wonders for the sound, and it didn't have that 'grungy' feeling that most festivals do, it was also brand spanking new. Never the less, with 5,500 cans of carlsberg alone being sold, ceilings being punched in, and bands hanging from the lighting fittings everyone managed to put on a show.

We didn't manage to see all the bands over the 3 stages, as that would have been impossible, but check out the bands we did manage to catch below:

The Living Daylights - Stage 2

One of Lincoln's local bands played on the second stage, consisting of Danny, Johnno, Dan, and Matt, who was the Crash Doubt event organiser as you would expect The Living Daylights had a large crowd in the huge area, you could tell they have a lot of support and fans, they can definitely work the room.
You can find The Living Daylights on Facebook, where they have new tracks up from their new Album - 'What keeps you breathing', definitely check these guys out.

Feed The Rhino - Stage 1

Kent's finest Feed The Rhino definitely put on a show for Crash Doubt. This was the first time we had ever caught Feed The Rhino, and we can say we were not disappointed. They managed to wake up the crowd by getting heavily involved and taking instruments and all into the pit. We also got to catch up with some of the guys after they had played and they were such lovely dudes too! You can check out more of Feed The Rhino here.

While She Sleeps - Stage 1

We haven't seen a band take over a stage quite as much as hardcore band from Sheffield, While She Sleeps, they were fully pumped, and it showed. Lead vocals, Lawrence Taylor has some massive stage presence, swinging from the light fittings, and getting the crowd going, proving the biggest pit we had seen all day, impressive. Next time you can catch these guys is Slam Dunk Festival, next weekend, 28th & 29th May.

Lower Than Atlantis - Stage 1

After recently releasing their brilliant new album, 'World Record' we were really excited to see LTA, everyone was loving the start of the set, particularly 'I'm Not Bulimic (I Just Wanted To See…)' had everybody singing along. Unfortunately half way through there was a bit of an issue between someone and the security (who were really tight on people in the pits) which lead to lead vocals Mike Duce jumping off stage to see what the commotion was about, he then managed to get the whole room to sit down and chill before they continued. Needless to say the set was cut short which was big disappointment for the day. Lower Than Atlantis are usually absolutely brilliant live, so if you didn't catch them at Crash Doubt, check their Facebook to see where they are playing next, and purchase their new album whilst you're at it.

Deaf Havana - Stage 1

Deaf Havana were main headliners for the evening, and as always, they delivered, even previewing a brand new song, 'The World Or Nothing', which sounded brill! These guys will also be at Slam Dunk Festival on 28th & 29th May, Download Festival, Intro Festival and are also doing some smaller venues throughout July, make sure you catch them. They also released an exclusive listen to the new song on Youtube.

Had a great time at this last year – what once was a small local event is now a truly great lltite festival. Very friendly atmosphere, some of the finest Irish bands on the go and much much more affordable than some of the alternatives.I’ll be away this year so I can’t go to it, but it’s a very tasty lineup!
